Andy Melick

I bought a house in Crescent Park with my wife Inge in 2012. We moved here fulltime when I retired in 2016. We love the neighborhood, the views, the peace and quiet. We are grateful to the many wonderful folks who have welcomed us to this community. I joined the HOA board of trustees in 2021 because I believe everyone’s experience is enhanced when we contribute a portion of our time to maintaining the common good we share.

I grew up in rural Pennsylvania, went to college on the outskirts of New York City, and spent my working life on ships. I sailed as both a deck and engineering officer in the merchant marine for 15 years, until I became a harbor pilot in Miami, Florida for the next 20 years. At that point I decided I had seen enough saltwater and moved to Coal Creek Canyon.

My primary activity now is creative writing, both fiction and non-fiction. I participate in several local writers’ groups and devote as much time as possible to literary expression. I also enjoy hiking, mountain-biking, and lap swimming. Inge and I each have a son from previous marriages, one in Miami, one in San Francisco, but so far no grandchildren.
